Saint Peter’s Church: Sacristy Liturgical Carts

In 2015, MQ Architecture was honored to receive a commission in collaboration with Waterhouse Cifuentes Design to design the new carts for St. Peter’s Church sacristy. This project aimed to create storage solutions for the church’s ceremonial mass items, each meticulously designed by the renowned Massimo Vignelli. Our team embarked on the task with a deep sense of responsibility, combining functionality with a respect for Vignelli’s design principles.

We crafted eight wooden-wheeled carts, each uniquely tailored on the inside to accommodate specific ceremonial items. The careful consideration of the objects’ varying shapes and sizes ensured both practicality and reverence in their storage. As a testament to our commitment to detail and connection to St. Peter’s Church, we intricately carved the church’s cross onto the sides of each cart. The culmination of this project stands as a harmonious blend of functionality, artistic expression, and respect for tradition within the sacred space of St. Peter’s Church.
