Murano: Glass from the Olnick Spanu Collection

In our capacity as exhibition designers specializing in temporary art displays, MQ Architecture played a pivotal role in shaping the immersive experience of the Murano: Glass from the Olnick Spanu Collection exhibition at the Consulate General of Italy in New York. Notably, our involvement extended to the meticulous design of custom glass cases that elegantly showcased the curated selection of Murano glass works from 1914 to 1933.

Understanding the importance of lighting in accentuating the beauty of each piece, we also designed the lighting scheme for the exhibition space. Our aim was to create an atmosphere that not only highlighted

the intricate details of the glassworks but also contributed to the overall aesthetic and mood of the showcase. It’s worth noting that every aspect of our design, including the glass cases and lighting, was thoughtfully crafted to meet the specific requirements of a temporary exhibition, ensuring a seamless blend of functionality and artistic presentation. By approaching the project with a keen understanding of the temporary nature of the exhibition, we successfully balanced the need for practicality with the desire to create a visually stunning and cohesive display. The result was an exhibition space that not only paid homage to the 70th Anniversary of the Italian Republic but also served as a testament to the harmonious integration of design elements, showcasing Murano glass in its most captivating light.
