Margherita Raso: Vizio di Forma

For Margherita Raso’s show at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York, MQ Architecture undertook various responsibilities, including layout planning, designing structures to hold the artworks, and meeting with the commissioner and artist to ensure we met their vision. We created a layout that showcased the artwork effectively, and designed temporary structures that were both visually appealing and secure. These structures consisted of a rectangular steel frame supported by aluminum poles. The artworks were hung with magnets to the steel frame.

Margherita Raso’s exhibition at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York, titled Vizio di forma, comprised three bodies of sculptural work that engage with different languages, forms, and styles, almost all of which were newly produced for the exhibition. The exhibition featured a series of thirty urns titled Hoarders that comment on time and mourning, and the metal structure holding the urns hints at the inherent failure of accumulation. Additionally, the exhibition includes two mechanically produced textile pieces created on a Jacquard loom, which historically weaves two industries together - textile manufacturing and computing.
